6. Project Objectives:

The project is aimed at providing opportunities for access to new competencies related to the use of unmanned technologies in professional activities, which include, in particular, the use of modern information and telecommunication technologies for unmanned aerial vehicles and data obtained as a result of their operation aimed at achieving the objectives and priorities of optimization of professional competencies, outlined in the strategy of social and economic development of the Republic of Belarus until 2020, as well as in terms of creating new jobs, especially for young people.


7. Tasks:

  • The development of practical and theoretical knowledge at the professional level, in the management and maintenance of drones: the mechanical characteristics of drones, sensory equipment, processing and use of information obtained.
  • Analysis of the legal framework governing the use of drones.
  • Providing opportunities for access to new competencies related to the use of drones in professional activities for solving the professional tasks of various civil services, such as MES, engineering and technical services, telecommunication system operators, farms, etc.

8. Brief justification:

The motivation for the eDrone project is the growth of the economy and well-being of the partner countries through specialized programs of vocational education training (VET) aimed at increasing the competence of specialists working in strategic directions. Drones are a new technology that represents a huge potential for the application of works and services in the civilian sphere. Thanks to remote control and sensor technology, the drones are able to collect quality and quantitative information about the state of the environment during the flight. The main uses of drones for civilian purposes are: (i) agriculture, (ii) geodesy, (iii) aerial photography, (iv) gas detection, (v) fire detection, (vi) environmental monitoring, (vii) archeology, (viii) monitoring of photovoltaic systems, (ix) monitoring of buildings and structures, (x) inspection of power lines.


9. Brief plan (strategy) of the project activity:

BSU, being a partner institution, is responsible for theoretical competences (according to the project program):

  • analysis and development of work plans for legal aspects of the use of drones;
  • training of BSU specialists on the issues of technologies, hardware and software for drones for their various applications for civilian purposes;
  • creation of an Office for Education for Drones (OED) with subsequent training on the basis of the center of interested specialists;
  • implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) platform;
  • The organization of communication with the industrial and private sector through the ICT platform.

10. Expected results:

  1. In the education field. Teachers and specialists from the universities of the partner countries will undergo a theoretical and practical training course on the use of drones. The training course will be prepared and implemented by specialists from European countries. In parallel, a training module will be developed to train specialists on the use of drones for each partner university.
  2. In the economic sphere: establishing stable links with the business environment and production.
  3. In the social sphere: the introduction of new professional fields of activity in the working environment from industry to the private sector. Development of continuous training and retraining programs for specialists in drones technology.
